Celebrating Cinco De Mayo with the Best Mexican Beers

Cinco de Mayo is a yearly celebration commemorating the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla over 200 years ago. Or for us gringos, Cinco De Drinko; a day to drink beer, make guacamole and eat tacos! Vivia Mexico!

Tired of drinking the same Mexican beers and want to add a little class to your fiesta? Give these cervezas a go!

Dos Equis Pale Ale is not your normal Dos Equis beer. It has more body than their lager, the beer that most of us think of when we think of the double X. It has a slight citrus taste and finishes with a kick of spice at the end. The spice got stronger the more I drank, which left me wanting more after I finished the bottle. I don’t always drink Dos Equis, but when I do, it will be their pale ale.

If you’re looking for more variety than just lagers and pilsners; you have to try some Day of the Dead brews. I tasted their Blonde Ale, Pale Ale, and Hefeweizen - all were fantastic. I love hefeweizens so it’s no shock my favorite turned out to be the hefe. A nice mellow beer with a bit of tartness up front and a citrus finish. If you’re the type of person who judges a beer by its label, then you’ll be happy with both!

If you’re less adventurous, then give Bohemia a shot! It’s a full flavored beer with a crisp drink and nice carbonation. It has just the right amount of bitterness. Other say they can taste citrus notes, but I didn’t pick up on any of that. Overall its a really good drink!

So, celebrate Cinco De Mayo in style with these beers as you bat around the old piñata.
