A Final Ramble About Game of Thrones Before It Ends

Will we see this witty Tyrion again? I hope so. I miss him dearly.

You’ve done the rewatch. You’ve read the theories. Now you’re ready to just get on with how it all ends. In this particular post, here are my final quick thoughts, predictions and sarcasms about what I think Season 8 will entail.

  • Episode 1 will be a normal set up episode that feels like any other season, leading to critics and fans alike bewildered with disappointment and pathetic overreaction.

  • Composer Ramin Djawadi will give us another iconic score similar to “Light of the Seven” and I will listen to it on repeat for a long time.

  • If Valar Morghulis (all men must die) does indeed happen, is it just the actual men that must die, meaning that all the main women characters live happily ever after? That’d be a political statement, whether people want that or not.

  • In the trailer, we see Arya running away from something horrible. Many have theorized it’s her family being raised from the dead by The Night King. My money is that it’s on Brienne of Tarth as a White Walker. Arya escapes, but is ready to get the hell out of the north and head south.

  • The Battle of Winterfell episode will have Jaime Lannister killed by Brienne of Tarth, the White Walker.

  • Winterfell will be overrun by The Night King’s army and only a handful of humans will survive, escaping down south. Somehow, the White Walkers will be contained for the time being per HBO contractual obligations for a six episode season.

  • After Jaime Lannister dies in The Battle of Winterfell, Arya takes the face of Jamie, heads to King’s Landing and kills Cersei. The Valonqar Prophecy is bound to happen before the show’s end, and this could be the way it all goes down.

  • Jon Snow will kill Bran Stark, because he is the Night King. Only Game of Thrones would let its audience wait for almost a decade to watch the main hero kill the main villain, only to find out the main villain is the main hero’s crippled little brother.

  • Dany will sit on the throne. Why? Because the series finale will be a conventional one and will feed into what the fans want rather than what would be the most shocking twist. The character arc of Dany from day one has been to sit on that throne. Whether it ends happily or not, I don’t know, but I’m sensing a possible flash forward to a dawn of spring where Dany is much older. Without Jon. Because…

  • Jon Snow will find out Daenerys is pregnant and will sacrifice himself to save his wife and future child. Then Dany will sing "A Song of Ice and Fire" to the baby while they fall asleep in their iron crib.

  • Sansa will survive and Winterfell will be hers, never marrying the prince she dreamed as a kid. This lady of Winterfell can rule all on her own just fine.

  • Tyrion will continue to serve as the hand to the throne, whoever that is. I have to believe this, but if they make him evil and he betrays Daenerys, the writers be damned. Bring me back funny Tyrion. Emo Tyrion is becoming tiresome.

  • The running time of the last episode will secretly be way longer than 80 minutes. More like 95-100 minutes if you ask me.

  • A post credits scene will be Grey Worm four years later still at Highgarden, waiting to get a call from someone that the battle has actually started.

What is dead may never die. What is on TV may always be streamed. See you Sunday.
