Oh hey Daily Nerd blog! It's been a while. I've gone into deep hiding since the Boston Bruins lost the Stanley Cup, but I think I'm finally ready to reemerge and write about other things.
Now normally I leave the nerdy super hero blogs to Vinnie since he is our resident comic book expert, but I finally watched Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse last night and I feel a strong need to talk about it.
Here's the thing, I'm not going to fan boy over this movie. I am going to give it my honest, hard criticism of the film. I feel it's important to look at things critically and not just say they're amazing because they're flashy and full of action. So here it is. My real review of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

I"m not even kidding you. I have zero issues with this movie. I thought it was a legit, full on bonafide masterpiece. The animation style in this movie was a delectable deep tissue massage for the eye balls. The writing was smart, hilarious at times, and emotional when it had to be.
Each character in this movie had a great character arc and we even had the pleasure of hearing Nicolas Cage voice a super hero.
The soundtrack was catchy, modern and fit the tone of this movie so well. I don't think I'll ever get Post Malone's Sunflower out of my head.
Going into this movie I thought a two hour runtime would be too much for a cartoon but it really wasn't. It was paced perfectly.
As someone who is still a big fan of the Sam Reimi trilogy...well at least the first two...I really appreciated the homage to his films, including the dancing Spider-Man scene.
It's not just one of the best animated films I've ever seen. It might be the best animated film I've ever seen. 10/10 would watch again.
Peace, Nerds.
