A few nights ago the Patriots won the Super Bowl for the sixth time. It never gets old. They could win 100 Super Bowls and I would still want to see more. Being the most dominate and hated team in the NFL is extremely satisfying because no matter how many times other fanbases call us "cheaters" we can just laugh at them and enjoy another championship parade. Having said that...
The game was kinda boring.
Apparently to be a true football fan you have to love these types of games. According to Joe Bartnick if you didn't like the Super Bowl you don't really like football. You only like fantasy football or flag football or some other dumb version of football that's not really football.
Guess what Joe? I think you're dead wrong. I would have much preferred to watch Tom Bray throw multiple touchdown passes. Does this not make me a real fan? If so I don't really care. Offense is exciting. There's a reason casual fans love offense.
I guess I'm not a "real" Patriots fan then. Fine. I'm cool with that. I will be a fake fan if it means I get to enjoy points being scored rather than large dudes preventing other large dudes from getting to the end of a field.
The Chiefs vs. Patriots game in October was exciting because of the two quarterbacks playing at the top of their game. The Patriots VS. Falcons Super Bowl was exciting because the Pats had to score a million points in one quarter. Offense is exciting.
Why can't you prefer watching offense over defense? Is it because I don't understand how real football is played? The answer is yes. I have limited knowledge of football. I know the basic rules but when it comes to the types of plays they are running I have no fucking idea what's going on and I'm fine with that.
For all the people out there who are gatekeeping the fan community please stop. It doesn't make you look cooler or smarter. It makes you look like an asshole.
Go Patriots. Go Bruins. Offense is more fun to watch than defense. Everyone else shut up.
