Injury Hell: When Will I Have to Play For The Celtics?

You’ve seen the injuries. You’ve read the timetables for return. The question is: if the Celtics can go on a respectable playoff run, how can Brad Stevens not win Coach of the Year? Hell, maybe give it to him now. Did you see that West Coast road trip? They won all the games, including a buzzer beater by future President of the United States Jaylen Brown.

But first, let’s reset.

It was October 17, 2017, opening night in the NBA. After one of the craziest off-seasons in league history, the Boston Celtics were at the forefront of that craziness. Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving were ready to swing the east back to Boston away from Cleveland. Then, snap. The sound of Hayward’s leg silenced us all. The season was over. Hayward’s health hit us all in the heart. This was Brad Steven’s guy. This was supposed to be the time where the Celtics became the face of the NBA. Banner 18. Banner 19. LeBron who, yada yada.

It’s now March. Still no Gordon Hayward. And now, no Kyrie Irving. What’s a fan to do? Well, green teamers are usually a more positive fan base than the Patriots (seriously why didn’t Malcolm Butler play), Red Sox (the bummer that is David Price) and Bruins (is Rask really a good goalie, Christian)? Actually, we should be thankful for the Bruins right now. Otherwise, the future of Boston’s sports in 2018 seem rather grim.

Or does it?

On a positive note, and perhaps a more realistic one, the Celtics were always a year away anyways. Jason Tatum has been absolutely electric in his rookie year. Seriously, have you seen this play? Plus, Jaylen Brown is a winning player that’s turning into a true leader on and off the court. This insane buzzer beater says it all.

The playoffs start soon and we’re without Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving to start, but don’t you feel like there’s something special happening at Boston Garden this year?

Or maybe it’s the Bruins.
