Would Elaine from Seinfeld be allowed to sit in Tampa Bay's premium seating area?

Updated: Nov 14, 2018

Remember that episode of Seinfeld when Elaine sat in the owners box at Yankee Stadium and refused to take off her Orioles hat when she was told the owner wouldn't like it? I ask this because of a recent piece of information that was just revealed about the Tampa Bay Lightning premium seating area.

Here's part of the information you would see if you purchased a ticket in the Chase Club or Lexus Lounge seating area at Tampa's home arena.

I wanted to reach out and confirm that you are aware of our dress code policy for these areas for the playoffs. Opposing team apparel and items will not be permitted in the Chase Club or Lexus Lounge for the playoffs.

Imagine paying a boatload of money for a ticket and then not being allowed to wear your teams colors? Tampa is already filled with transplants from the Northeast. Game one might have had more Bruins fans than Tampa fans attending the game. I'm sorry that even if your team is number one in the east you still can't fill your arena with your own fans. Probably because it's a 25 year old team from Florida.

Elaine got her tickets for free to the Yankee game. That almost makes it justifiable when she is asked to remove her Orioles hat. SHE WAS LIVID. I can only imagine her reaction at a Tampa playoff game if she paid for her tickets and was still asked to remove her team colors.

Listen, I don't hate the Tampa Bay Lightning. I actually really like their roster. They are absolutely stacked with talent, but if you have to give out those annoying clappers to every fan to make your arena seem loud you're probably not a real fanbase.

I wonder if there was a Bruins fan Elaine Benes who attended one of the first two games at Amalie Arena and made a huge scene when asked to take off her Bergy jersey? I really hope so.
